Medical Surplus was born out of a critical need during a global crisis. In 2021, Christiaan Vorster—a former Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Emergency Medical Practitioner saw firsthand the devastating shortages of critical medical devices during the height of the pandemic. Armed with deep frontline experience and a vision to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable, Christiaan began importing premium medical devices.

What started as a mission to bridge a critical gap quickly transformed into a full-scale industry revolution. By sourcing recent, high-end medical equipment from advanced international markets, Medical Surplus made top-tier technology available locally at a fraction of the cost.

Officially founded under the Medical Surplus name in 2023, the company has grown from a passionate side venture into a formidable industry leader, scaling from an initial 410,000 ZAR in annual revenue to over 30 million ZAR within the last three years.

Utilizing advanced infrastructure—including in-house CAD designers, engineers, and commercial CNC routers—we are just weeks away from the grand opening of our latest venture: manufacturing custom ambulances and mobile clinics tailored for the South African and broader African markets.
