Description
Core Functions & Simulation Capabilities
The MS100 is built to test the optical accuracy and processing speed of handheld, fingertip, or bedside pulse oximeters:
-
Oxygen Saturation (SpO2) Simulation: Generates fractional oxygen levels ranging from 35% to 100% (with 1% resolution). This allows technicians to verify if an oximeter correctly flags dangerous hypoxia levels.
-
Pulse Rate (PR) Simulation: Generates heart rates from 25 to 250 BPM to test the tracking capability of the monitor.
-
Pre-loaded R-Curves: Oximeter manufacturers use slightly different algorithms, known as R-Curves, to calculate oxygen percentages from light absorption data. The MS100 has 10 popular built-in R-curves (including Masimo, Nellcor, BCI, etc.) and allows for custom curves so you can test nearly any brand accurately.
-
Patient State Simulation: Includes 24 preset patient conditions to test how an oximeter behaves under challenging clinical scenarios. These include weak pulse, bradycardia, tachycardia, hypoxia, infant states, geriatric states, and obesity.
-
Interference & Perfusion Testing: Can introduce 50Hz/60Hz electronic interference, ambient light artifacts, and vary the simulated pulse amplitude (perfusion index) to ensure the monitor filters out noise without losing the signal.
-
Device Reaction Time: Can simulate sudden cardiac arrest or rapid drops in oxygen levels to measure exactly how many seconds it takes for the attached monitor to trigger an alarm.
Key Specifications
-
Display: 320×240 color TFT display (262K colors) with adjustable brightness.
-
Form Factor: Compact, handheld design using physical film-press keys.
-
Power: Driven by a built-in 3.7V rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
